Reduction of a sentence already being served � the remaining punishment is shortened by executive authority.
Full Definition
Remission shortens the duration of a sentence without changing its nature. Types: ordinary (good behaviour), special (national occasions), emergency. Unlike commutation, it does not change the type of punishment.
