Interlocutory Order
A temporary or interim order passed during proceedings � not a final decision on the merits.
Full Definition
An interlocutory order deals with procedural matters or preserves the status quo pending the final decision. Includes: interim injunctions, stay orders, attachment orders, interim maintenance. By definition temporary � ceases when main proceedings conclude.
In Indian Law
Section 397(2) CrPC: interlocutory orders cannot be challenged in revision � to prevent disruption of ongoing trials. They can be challenged through writ petitions (Articles 226/227) where fundamental rights or jurisdictional issues arise.
